Alanna Smith, a 26-year-old Australian professional basketball player for the Minnesota Lynx of the Women's National Basketball Association (WNBA), had a breakout game on Sunday, scoring a career-high 22 points in the team's victory over the Phoenix Mercury. Smith, a two-year WNBA player out of Stanford University, owns career averages of 36 points and 28 rebounds.

Smith's impressive performance was key in the Lynx's 90-82 win over the Mercury. The 6-foot-4 forward was efficient from the field, shooting 8-of-11, and also contributed 9 rebounds and 3 assists. Smith's 16 points in the first half helped give the Lynx a 47-38 lead at the break, and she continued to be a force in the second half, scoring 6 more points and grabbing 5 rebounds.

Napheesa Collier was also a key contributor for the Lynx, scoring 20 points and grabbing 9 rebounds. Sylvia Fowles added 16 points and 9 rebounds, and Moriah Jefferson dished out 8 assists.
