Manny Machado's Four Hits Power Padres Past Rockies
Padres Win 8-3
Machado's Performance
Manny Machado had a stellar performance at the plate, collecting four hits in five at-bats. His offensive outburst helped spark the Padres' offense and propel them to an 8-3 victory over the Colorado Rockies.
Machado's first hit came in the second inning, a single that drove in two runs. He followed that up with a double in the fourth inning and two more singles in the sixth and eighth innings.
Dylan Cease's Strong Outing
Dylan Cease also played a key role in the Padres' victory. The right-hander pitched seven strong innings, allowing only one hit and striking out eight batters. He did not issue a walk.
Cease's outing was his best of the season. He has now allowed two or fewer runs in each of his last four starts.
Padres Rebound from Loss
The Padres' victory snapped a two-game losing streak and improved their record to 63-59. They remain in third place in the NL West, but they are now just 2.5 games behind the second-place San Francisco Giants.
The Padres will look to continue their winning ways when they face the Rockies again on Thursday night.
